Week 2 preparation (10/8/2008): Defining the project - the client interview

In week 2, we enter the discovery phase of Defining the Project where we meet with the client and begin to define the project scope. I hope everyone submitted to their teams their bookmarks of competitive URLs that they were able to find. There was a link to a bookmarks file format, but some people had also figured out how to create a page in their team Google Group "Pages" area which works just as well. We will return to these shortly .

I have a short lecture on Discovery and Clarification that covers gathering information from the client. The other assignment was to review client survey (p. 44-45) and technical survey (p. 57) files. These give good tips and suggestions for questions you might ask and collect from the client. In Week 2's class, we will meet with the Museum of the City project team. There will be a short presentation on the project and them time for the class to ask questions.

The next step will be to begin analyzing the information that you have gained and drafting a Web Design Project Brief that outlines the goals and deliverables for a Museum of the City website.
