Week 3 preparation (10/15/2008): Web project briefs and competitive assessments

In Week 3's class we will continue the Discovery Phase where we define and plan our web design projects. You should have summarized your notes from the "client meeting" last week to mp402@googlegroups.com?subject=re: Overview of Presentation, and have begun working on your web design project briefs. We will review this information at the beginning of class and have time to discuss the different possible projects, potential objectives, goals and features. There is a lot of opportunity here, and the challenge will be reigning in the scope to a manageable project. This will likely constitute more than one project, and we will need to assign the components between the teams.

For the second half of the class, we will begin work on Competitive Analysis (competitive_analysis.xls) where teams will document the strength and weaknesses of the competitor or comparable sites whose URLs you identified in Week 1 (though feel free to add and remove sites from this original list). This will provide a lot of insight into potential features and functionality, as well as common design standards and conceptual models used in the museum industry or world.

See you in class,
Richard.
